OUR HISTORY
The inception of the Diaspora Network Inc. traces back to a moment of reflection and solidarity at the funeral and burial of the late Lawrence Ronald, a distinguished young Liberian whose impact was felt both in Liberia and the diaspora. It was during this somber occasion that a group of passionate individuals came together, sparking a series of productive discussions that eventually led to the formation of the Diaspora Network Inc.
The initial concept was simple: to create a platform that would unite young Liberians from diverse backgrounds, fostering a sense of community and support. This idea took root through a Facebook chat room, serving as a virtual space for members to stay connected. However, after a period of inactivity lasting nearly a year, the group reignited its momentum following the passing of our beloved brother and friend, Ambassador Charles Johnson. His funeral became a turning point for the group, where we came together in a highly organized and professional manner to honor his legacy and renew our commitment to the network. During this time, a meeting was held to ensure the continuity of the Diaspora Network and its future growth.
On February 22, 2019, the group formally adopted its name and completed the necessary administrative steps to establish itself as an official entity. Since then, the Diaspora Network has flourished under an ad-hoc leadership structure, with dedicated committees overseeing various activities aimed at promoting the organization's growth and impact.
Our history is rooted in a foundation of friendship, care, and a shared commitment to supporting each other and our communities. The bond we have created is a testament to the power of unity and the potential for positive change when we come together with a common purpose.
